Finding Your Inner Compass

Have you ever opened Google Maps and still managed to walk in the wrong direction? Yeah, that’s me at least twice a week. But honestly, life feels like that sometimes too. You think you’re heading the right way, and suddenly, you’re like, “Wait how did I end up here?”

That’s when your inner compass comes in.

No, not the fancy metal kind (though that would be cool). I mean the one inside you that quiet, gut feeling that tells you what’s right, even when the world is a bit too noisy.

I remember once in school, everyone was joining this one particular club because “it looked cool.” I almost did too but something inside me just said, “Nope, not your thing.” So, I joined a different activity instead, even though barely anyone else did. That one choice led me to discover my love for public speaking and leadership. Sometimes, your inner compass doesn’t give you a whole map it just points you one honest step forward.

The tricky part? We often can’t hear it. Our world is full of people saying “You should do this,” or “Everyone’s doing that.” But when you take a pause just a small one and listen to your thoughts without comparing them, that’s when your compass starts working again.

And yes, it will point you to some unexpected paths. It might tell you to take a risk, or to say no to something that everyone else says yes to. It might even make you look a little “different.” But that’s kind of the point the compass isn’t designed to point where others are going; it points to where you’re meant to be.

So, the next time you feel a little lost, don’t panic. You don’t need to have the entire route figured out just trust that small, steady voice that says, “This feels right.” Because no matter how fancy the map looks, your own compass will always know your true north.
